About Me

Hi there. I'm Erin and I am a wife and mother of 2 daughters,  a Holistic Birth Coach, an Herbalist,  and a Medicinal Herb and Livestock Farmer.

You can generally find me outside tending to my garden, cows, and sheep, or at home tending to my houshold, with my daughters along for the journey.

Prior to motherhood I spent my twenties travelling the world and the country, immersing myself in the wilderness, in meditative practices,  and working on a variety of organic farms and herb gardens. I spent years living off my bicycle, choosing to sleep outside on the earth, striving to hold on to my full aliveness.

My desire then is the same as now, to live life close to our source, to experience what is to be human, and to be in connection and resonance with the truth that is always within.

In becoming a mother, there was a time when this desire felt turned upside down,  but I now recognize that it only went deeper. As a woman, my journey in motherhood is the source, it is what it is for me to be human, it is where I find the deepest power and connection to God, to nature, and to truth.  While I, like anyone, have moments of stress, frustration and overwhelm,  I strive each day to choose motherhood fully. To experience the full range of what being a mother has to offer.

My husband and I use to joke, as we were beginning to desire a family that we felt like teenage adults. It felt boring, mundane,  and despairingly expansive in the wide range of life opportunities. We wanted the depth that could come with devotion to more than our individual passions. We wanted to experience heart wrenching love that only mothers and fathers feel for their children.

Upon becoming pregnant,  I knew little about birth, but I had been living my life outside of the mainstream, and knew I wanted as natural of a birth as possible. I also deeply trusted my body's wisdom. Through meditative practice I had experienced that the nature of my body is to always move towards healing, towards balance, and to reveal to me the truth of that moment.

I deeply knew that my body was here for me.

I could trust my body to grow and birth my baby.

And so after exploring several options, I felt most aligned with choosing to birth at home, with my husband as the sole witness. I had listened to dozens of stories of women doing the same, also of the ways that birth is commonly sabotaged by medical professionals. I felt intimdated by the bigness and by the unknown, yet know this was the choice for us. All the stories I'd heard opened me up to the truth of birth's wild unpredictability and I found comfort in knowing there were as many ways for birth to unfold as there are women and babies.

And so my first daughter was born in the shower, into my husband's arms, then immediately into mine.

Where she stayed. We stayed home for weeks, no check ups, no stranger's opinions....she was vibrant and perfect and simply allowed to be so.

And it was intense, and shattering, and immensely powerful.

And really so simple. No other drama, outside of what I created.

No one to save me from myself, from God, from Source, so I had to go through.

I was so transformed and inspired by my expereince and wanted more women to experience birth in it's fullness and simplicity.

I got goosebumps listening to advertisements for Free Birth Society's Radical Birth Keeper School.

I know my body to be wise and took these chills as a sign and signed up.

I started learning about supporting other women in pregnancy, birth, and motherhood outside of the medical paradigm.

I also read all sorts of books about birth and purchased audio classes from other traditional midwives.

And yet I still felt so new.

I started a women's circle to build community and connection and to gain expereince in offering leadership and service to women.

I made extra efforts to support friends surrounding their birthing time.

And I became pregnant again. This time the decision was simple, there was nothing to do but nourish myself well and  continue with life.

I birthed my second daughter again in the bathroom with her father as the sole witness (he only walked in just as her head had emerged).

This birth I had nothing to prove, had no need to be seen, and I felt fully in my power and strength as I was stretched to my absolute limits.

And again she was perfect, she took a few moments to breathe, and to settle into her breath, and I was greatful she was so welcome to take that time.

Several months later, I decided to journey deeper into my learning and jumped on to FBS's year long training for Soverign Birth Keepers, the Matribirth Mentor Institute.

A whole drama ensued around my teachers and their credibility in mainstream news. I questioned myself and my direction and then returned to what I expereinced to be true, which was a deep sense of radical honesty and a willingness to challenge the mainstream narrative.

The media backlashw was the same old story for anyone challenging power.

The world would truly change if we all took full responsibility for ourselves and stepped away from the medical mainstream.

The world would change if the birth of every child were honored as sacred, if the mother were loved and honored and went through this threshold in her full consciousness, and  if mother and baby remained together.

So to me, this movement is incredibly inspiring, hopeful, and resonant, and I'm proud to be a part of it.

Now this second training is complete, and I have truly learned and grown so much,  and while I'm still young in this work I know I am equipped to begin serving.

As of now I am offering community events such as community prenatals, birth story sharing circles, and mother meet-ups.

I also offer one on one sessions for women to process their birth experiences and for women to recieve support in preparing for a natural birth.

I also offer herbal consultatations (I've been a student of herbalism for 10 years now) for those looking for support in achieving deeper wellness in their lives.

And throughout it all I'm devoted to my family and my endless inner growth.

I look forward to the opportunity to serve you.

With love,

Erin
